Donor Requirements

To be a qualified donor, you must:

  • Be between 18 and 69 years old
  • Weigh over 110 pounds
  • Have no tattoos, piercings, or permanent makeup in the last 4 months
  • Possess a valid ID
  • Have a permanent address
  • Be in good overall health

First-Time Donors

If this is your first time donating plasma, you’ll need to:

  • Complete a medical history questionnaire
  • Undergo a physical exam

Keep in mind that you may be deferred (temporarily or permanently) if you do not meet these requirements.

Temporary deferral: May occur due to a recent tattoo, pregnancy, use of antibiotics, etc.

Permanent deferral: May result from a chronic disease or long-term medical condition.

How to Get Started

The best way to begin donating is to make an appointment at your local CSL Plasma Webster, TX Plasma Center. For most centers:

  • You can book an appointment online or call ahead.
  • If appointments are not accepted, walk-ins are welcome.

What to Bring

When you visit the center, please bring:

  • A valid ID (e.g., driver’s license or military ID)
  • Your social security card or proof of your social security number
  • Proof of your current address or residency (such as a driver's license with your address, recent mail from the past 30 days, a current lease, or a utility bill)

Preparation Tips

Before donating, please:

  • Drink 4 to 6 eight-ounce glasses of water, fruit juice, or another caffeine-free beverage at least 2–3 hours before donating.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before donating.
  • Refrain from smoking for 2–3 hours before donating.
  • Avoid strenuous activity for at least 1 hour before donating.
  • Eat a high-protein, high-iron meal within 2 hours before donating.
  • Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Do not donate if you’re feeling sick.
  • Write down any medications you’re taking to ensure it’s safe for you to donate.

Other Important Information

  • Your first donation may take up to 2 hours due to medical and physical screening.
  • Repeat visits typically take about 60 minutes.
  • You can donate up to 2 times per week.

  • Payment is provided via a prepaid, reloadable debit card.
